UBISOFT Assassin's Creed | ShapeUp ™

Nostalgia Portfolio:
Finally sharing some artwork from the very first Assassin's Creed, from a billion years ago. It was a massive experience, but there was so much corporate politics and nonsense involved in birthing this new franchise (it actually started as a Prince of Persia next-gen project) that I didn't enjoy the process as much as people might think.

The best part by far was the crew. Getting to work alongside legends like Sparth, Vyle, Patrick Desgreniers, and Dechambo during the height of the early Photoshop custom brush and speedpainting craze was unforgettable. Sadly, I don't have the original files, so these images are definitely showing their age. I'll swap them out as I find better versions.

Flash forward a decade later: I was Art Director on Shape Up, a super fun Kinect title (RIP). We tried to gamify fitness for our favorite crowd... us the geeks and nerds :)

Very early research for the Assassin based on our first POP demo 2004 (the Princes were designed by Khai Nguyen). I spent some time defining the main traits of this character until Pat Desgreniers took over as I was needed on the environment side.

I joined the project in time of crisis, the Your Shape franchise needed a reboot and Charlie Huteau the game director wanted to gamify fitness to reach new crowds. We decided to ditch the realistic rendering for a complete low-poly/pixel style!

I designed the costumes for our "real-world" fitness coaches and it was the kind of experience which is unique to the Kinect platform, we worked with a movie costume designer from Montreal...

Mobile Runner app and presentation, despite its limited success it was a very fun project to work on, using the Kinect technology in the best way possible was also very exciting...
